KNX CERTIFICATION BASIC

KNX Certification Basic Course is an international standard training program established and certified by the KNX Association.
The KNX Basic Course equips engineers and technicians with foundational knowledge and ETS programming skills to design, configure, and deploy KNX-compliant systems for residential and complex commercial projects.
The course awards international KNX Partner certification, published on the global KNX Partner registry.
What you'll learn
Master the system architecture
Communication protocols, addressing systems, group objects, telegram structures, and unauthorized access security standards.
Understand installation standards
Wiring specifications, connections, SELV electrical safety standards, testing and commissioning procedures.
Design topology
Design area-line-segment topology for any project scale. Apply address allocation and data routing rules correctly.
Understand and use of KNX RF
Integrate 868MHz KNX RF transmission into a KNX twisted pair topology.
Master the ETS software
Design, program, and configure device parameters. Link objects, commission, and operate full projects.
KNX project deployment process
Step-by-step deployment process for residential and commercial projects: apartments, townhouses, villas, offices, etc.

ETS Lite license (3 months).

Course duration & schedule
Theory sessions run in the evening (19:00 – 21:30) or daytime based on demand. Practical sessions are arranged on weekdays or weekends.
We prioritize flexible schedules to suit individual and corporate needs.
Theoretical: 12 hours - online
Practical: 15 hours - face to face training
Examination: 3 hours - face to face training

Course content

System Arguments
KNX history, applications, and advantages. Master system parameters: protocols, media, and data communication.

System Overview
Basic KNX structure with addresses, and objects together with flags. Understand bus voltage drops and signal attenuation prevention, bus cable length rules.

Topology
Network topology standards for each project model. Address allocation and data routing methods. Architecture models with TP couplers and KNXnet/IP routers.

KNX Bus Device & Installation
SELV standards, KNX TP cable classification, distribution board, wiring, termination, protection, and checking installation guidelines.

KNX Radio Frequency
KNX RF wireless transmission system and hybrid integration within the network architecture.
06
KNX/ETS Programming
Project design, programming, configuration, and project management with ETS on physical hardware.
Documentation & software
We provide full training documentation and official ETS software licenses for each trainee.

Who this course is for
This course is ideal for engineers and technicians in Electrical, Automation, Smarthome, M&E, Lighting, Construction, IT, and Architecture—as well as companies that want to build an international standard KNX technical team.
Requirements
- No prior technical knowledge or mandatory prerequisites are required to join the course.
- Experience in deploying smart home system, BMS, or industrial projects is an advantage—but not mandatory.
