KNX Association video series on how to use ETS6 software to configure KNX projects. This part guides the reader through through the process of connecting yourself and creating your first project.
Follow the project initialization steps as instructed in the video.
There are a few things you need to keep in mind when initializing a KNX project:
1. Name
You can name your project any way you want. But a company or contractor implementing a KNX project will name the project in a consistent structure so that it can be easily found among hundreds of completed projects.
For example the project name could be 2024_KNX_Apartment 2310_Sun Grand City.
This type of project name will show the following information: year of project implementation_KNX project type_apartment type with room number_building. Showing specific information in the project name will help contractors easily classify, arrange, store and search for project files when needed.
2. Project Type
You need to choose the project type that suits the actual construction you will implement. It can be an apartment, villa, office, etc. This is useful for classifying and arranging projects.
3. Backbone
There are two types of backbones: TP or IP. Large projects that connect buildings over long distances often use IP backbones. Internal projects will mostly use TP backbones.
4. Group Address Type
Choose the group address type that suits your project's functional design. Group address types include: 3 level, 2 level, Free.
